Turkmen Tumar Amulet

10.00

A traditional decorative hollow tube made of coin silver with dangling diamond shaped jangles and deep blue glass beads woven through them. These amulets are made to keep prayers, secrets and wishes safe, even to carry messages. Circa 1950. Cylindrical amulets are one of the oldest types of designs of the peoples of the Middle East. This form is found in many ethnic cultures from Ethiopia, Iran and India to the Arabian Peninsula.

It is missing one end cap and the 3 center stones. This would be a perfect piece to rework by replacing the stones, or filling the bezels with tinted Ice Resin. An exotic item full of history and mystery. 3 1/4" across x 3 1/4" height including the dangles x 1" diameter. One of a kind.
