So who's excited about our new Literary Hauntings Challenge? I definitely am! I've made "no bones" about the fact that I am frequently inspired by works of poetry and literature. You might even say I've "pondered over many a quaint & curious volume of forgotten lore."
Add to that my love of Halloween and it's no surprise that I am a fan of Edgar Allen Poe. His words evoke imagery that rap, tap, tap on the door of my imagination! This piece is an homage to Poe's The Raven.
Hope you will all join in on the spooky fun of our #RALiteraryHauntings Challenge!
This piece, is one of my all time favorites. It started out with this really cool block my very sweet friend, Sherry Westfall Matthews, sent me. She actually sent me quite a few of them. They each have two circles drilled half way through the body of the block.
The head is from the Relics & Artifacts® set Facia Familiaris. Honestly, this was a huge challenge for me as I had not used any of the figure heads up to this point. Once I covered the head with Iced Enamels and added some detail, everything else started to flow.
I decided to fill the holes with Ice Resin and some rub on quotes. This process was very time consuming due to the curing time of the Ice Resin, but it was so worth it. The block is covered in various papers front and back, then some stamping, embossing, and rub ons on the back.
She had to have butterfly wings because, well, she is a dreamer like me, and I have dreamed of flying with the butterflies. A Dresden crown aged with the rust patina from 10 Second Studio VerDay kit and she was finished.
This piece is always where I can see it, she inspires me to keep dreaming.
For extra inspiration, "Dreamer of Dreams" can be found in the June issue of Mixed Up Magazine.

Do you believe in faeries, in all things magical? Well if you know me at all, you know that I do.
When I go out in the evening and see the fireflies dancing on moss covered rocks, lighting up the evening sky with random magical bursts of light, my imagination goes wild.
I love being surrounded by this lush green dense forest and the inspiration it gives me to create.
I used a vintage door plate as the base for this fairy door. When I was making it, I imagined the magical place that it must lead to. A place with faeries bouncing off colorful mushroom caps, butterflies and bees dancing on brightly colored flowers.
With dragonflies swooping around, birds of every kind singing away, and rays of sun shining through the trees with wish faeries floating around, shedding a magical light on all of it.
Seeing the projects our Tribe members post in the Relics & Artifacts® Tribe on Facebook is always so much fun. I love seeing all the different ways everyone creates with these craft blanks. As Relics & Artifacts® Ambassadors, we like to create projects for these challenges to cheer you on and inspire you. I have been so busy the last few weeks, that I wasn’t able to participate and make something for the #RAShadesofRed Challenge we just wrapped up.
After seeing all the submissions for the challenge, even though it has ended now, I was so inspired that I had to make something. This piece, “Inspiration”, is dedicated to our Relics & Artifacts® Tribe. You are all an inspiration to me. I love seeing what you create. I learn and grow from watching you make.
Leave me a comment here on this post, and tell me where you find your inspiration. I will be drawing one winner from the comments below to receive my "Inspiration" piece as a thank you gift. Keep creating and inspiring. Keep growing and pushing your boundaries. We love what you do!!
If you are not already a member of the Relics & Artifacts® Tribe, we would love to have you join us. It is a friendly, positive, and very supportive group with endless inspiration.

I could see it so vividly in my mind's eye. A throne inspired by the whimsy of fairies in their secret world. Vivid colors, moss, flower elements and big, huge butterfly wings unfolding from the back of a throne meant for a true fairy queen.Read More

You know what I am a super fan of? High impact with simplistic construction. I am always drawn to things that appear to be overly complicated to assemble but in reality, there really isn't much to them, especially if I'm feeling a need to jumpstart my creative magic.Read More
